Decision to wind up

The Board of the Association for the Promotion of the Polish Language Abroad (APPLA) has decided to wind up the association as of March 31, 2023.

All materials developed by APPLA and with our participation will continue to be available on the http://www.appla.org website (which should be considered an archive website) and may be used free of charge to promote the Polish language and bilingualism/multilingualism, with the proviso that persons, organizations or institutions using them should indicate the source of materials or quotations. The http://www.podarujdzieckujezyk.org page will be closed (materials are still available in the PROJEKTY section at http://www.appla.org).

Thank you to all those who have worked with us and supported us over the past 10 years. We are happy that together we have done so much together to promote the Polish language abroad.

If you wish to get in touch with Dr Anna Martowicz, the founder and CEO of APPLA, please send an email to info.appla.org@gmail.com.

——————————————–

The Association for the Promotion of Polish Language Abroad (APPLA), based in Edinburgh (Scotland) was a non-profit organisation promoting Polish as a heritage or second language, as well as mother tongue.

Our organisation was established in 2014 and since then we have worked on a number of projects – independently and with numerous partners in the UK, in Poland and across the world.

We aimed to represent and promote the interests of the Polish language in Scotland, the United Kingdom and the wider world.

At APPLA we were committed to deliver our stated goals through:

  • campaigning for creating opportunities for multilingual development of children (not only of Polish origin),
  • promoting and supporting teaching and learning of Polish as a heritage language (through workshops, conferences, publication of teaching guidelines and teaching materials),
  • taking part in promotional campaigns and events related to the use of the Polish language,
  • promoting the learning Polish as a foreign language outside of Poland.
